Chapter XIII
At the heart of The Wailing Ossuary lies an ancient ritual summoning pentacle surrounded by laughing skulls. They challenge brave metalheads to lead five mighty musicians in an epic performance to try to conjure a monster of metal.
Only the very brave or the very foolish would perform their ritual during the thirteenth Chapter, but for those up to the challenge we have included some particularly powerful recommendations to make sure you make it through the attempt in one piece. Good luck!
The Chorus
Skillet is a band that has explored a range of different metal sub-genres but the addition of drummer Jen Ledger’s co-lead vocals on Awake is what cemented their unique and recognisable sound. The seventh album from the Tennessee metal legends is so popular that several of the tracks were licensed for WWE event themes. The inspiring vocals on Hero play off one another while also remaining syncopated with the drums. The heartbeat behind the riff on Monster lends an intended urgency to the lyrics. The uplifting strings on the anthemic Awake and Alive build to a chorus that hits you like a bolt of light. If you need an album to get you through the tough times, this is the one.
The Champion - I
If you're looking for the closest thing to angelic vocals in metal, Sarah Anthony is definitely who you need. Fronting Pennsylvanian Christian metal band The Letter Black since 2006, her soaring style can complement or cut through even the heaviest distortion and as such she's the perfect choice for your supergroup. On top of her main pursuit Sarah's even made time to work with several of the other biggest bands in the genre so she's no stranger to collaboration. If you need further evidence that your Champion and Chorus will match well, The Letter Black and Skillet have already toured together.
The Curse
Foolish though the timing might be, the combination of your Chorus and Champion was wise, even if we do say so ourselves. Haziel, a Shem HaMephorash angel of mercy has stepped into the breach to protect you from the thirteenth curse. She sternly warns you against pursuing any futher occult practices and offers you divine forgiveness. As a cherubic chorister, she can also teach you to master your signing voice, moulding you into an unrivalled vocalist for your supergroup. Just make sure the Wailing Ossuary never tempts you to return…
